Over 50 athletes enjoyed CAL AIA’s Friendsgiving in 2023!

Athletes at Saint Mary’s College of Moraga graduated in May! Bella was the class valedictorian and gave a great graduation speech!

Alyssa, one of or students leaders, played in the NCAA Women’s National Water Polo Tournament.

Hope, who will join our student leadership team for the 2023/2024 school year played in the NCAA softball regionals at Oklahoma.

In December, in between finals and Christmas, we headed to Puerto Penasco, Mexico to build a playground for a friend’s organization, Educate Aim, that supports education for disadvantaged children. 1 UCLA and 4 CAL athletes were able to participate in this wonderful project!

We have been able to speak to 5 different teams at Saint Marys College in Moraga, CA after the Athletic Director had us meet all the coaches at a departmental monthly meeting. Here Brooke is speaking to the baseball team about being a “Total Athlete.”

In November we hosted our annual Friendsgiving and 35+ athletes devoured
over 50 lbs. of turkey and 20 lbs. of mashed potatoes with all the fixings!

Karen (and Medo) finally got to experience Evansville’s Fall Festival in October…something she has heard about for over 38 years from Brooke!

We attended the bi-annual CRU Staff conference in Milwaukee in July. It was great to
catch up with old friends and be encouraged by various speakers!

Our first post-pandemic Spring Break Project since 2019 in Croatia!

*Every night we had a cafe discussion outreach on a different topic: Audience of One, Perseverance and Identity.*

We were able to take a quick trip to the Adriatic Sea and the men swam in the 51F degree water!

During the 2021/2022 school year, we hosted numerous Bible Studies at our home. Karen is meeting with the Women’s Soccer team here.

We welcomed a new member to the family; Medo (“Teddy Bear” in Croatian), a joyful, loving Pomeranian puppy! He has already attended the Cal/Stanford Big Game (Cal won 41-11!), a women’s soccer game (in a major storm!) and enjoys riding in a backpack at times!

We had the joy of officiating the wedding of Ann Truong (Cal graduate) and Regan Post in Vail Colorado on a mountain at 10,400 feet elevation! Two of the bridesmaids were Gen Weed and Madeline Trabucco, former Cal Water Polo players and AIA student leaders.

4 Cal men and 2 Cal women swimmers made the Olympic Swim Team for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics!
